WORKPLACE MINDFULNESS

- an experiential introductory workshop -

Mindfulness has enjoyed a tremendous surge in popularity in the last 15 years or so, both in the popular press and in the psychotherapy literature. Practicing mindfulness can bring improvements in both physical and psychological symptoms as well as positive changes in attitudes  and behaviours. This helps plan for how best to respond, rather than react in our old familiar, often unhelpful ways. As we heighten our awareness,  we gain more clarity on the situations and more able to see what serves best in the present situations, as opposed to, in our “auto-pilot mode”. The ease to make conscious choices in our responses enhances our personal effectiveness as well as interpersonal relationships.

Workshop Outline

This workshop is an introductory course on mindfulness. Participants will learn how to deal more skillfully with the stresses and strains of our busy working life. It provides an supportive environment for participants to learn and practice how to de-stress, rejuvenate and find peace in this somewhat frantic world we live in.

The workshop can be designed as a half-day or full-day workshop, tailored to the organizational needs. The approach is experiential. A full-day allows more time and space for participants to engage in the practices.

The topics covered may include a combination of the following:

  • Mindful living as a way towards greater authenticity and effectiveness

  • Neurobiology of emotions and mindfulness

  • Practices to reduce stress and gain balance

  • Developing greater concentration and focus

  • Cultivating supportive attributes

  • Interpersonal mindfulness

For Whom

Facilitator: Samantha Boo

Sam is a Professional Coach, OD Consultant, Corporate Trainer and Mindfulness Facilitator. An avid practitioner in mindfulness, qigong and yoga, she has attended various training in mindfulness, including Mindfulness-Based Strategic Awareness Training (MBSAT). Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Teaching methods for mindfulness at the workplace, Mindfulness of the Breath, Mindfulness with Biofeedback, Four Applications of Mindfulness as well as Ashtanga Vinyasa and Yin Yoga workshops.

Mindfulness has always been the foundation of her work in coaching and leadership development. She has witnessed how individuals feel much more at ease, empowered and liberated when they become aware of their habitual way and able to make conscious choices in how they want to respond moment to moment. Sam has facilitated corporate workshop on 'Enhancing personal effectiveness through mindfulness practices' and integrated mindfulness practices in her leadership development workshops.  In early 2017, she started a program called 'Towards mindful living' to support her clients and friends, and was deeply inspired to offer more of this work. She subsequently facilitated 'Working with stress and anxiety', 'Inner connection' and 'Being in nature'.

Sam is grateful how the work has helped her to live a purposeful and integrated life. She is thrilled to be able to share and offer this gift to others. To ensure that she is offering the best support to participants, she decided to do the MBCT Teacher Training course last year and is  thrilled to now embark on the journey of teaching MBCT as well as offering a more structured program for organizations.
